I make no secret about the fact that I’m a bit of a twitter addict and I love learning new ways to get more from it.
I read a great post this morning by Robert Caruso that detailed how to optimise your twitter profile but, in my opinion, there’s one tip missing.
When you set up your twitter profile you’ll see a field to add your website url. However, unless someone clicks on your actual profile they won’t be able to view the url.
To maximise clicks through to your site I recommend adding a url to your actual bio.
Why do you need to add it twice?
Log into twitter and click on your followers – you’ll see it brings up a neat list showing twitter name, profile pic and bio. But what it doesn’t show is their website url – unless you click again to bring up their full profile.
By adding the url to your bio it’s available for someone to click without having to make any extra effort (as you can see in the photo).
When you enter the url into your bio remember to include http:// to make the link clickable. Using a url shortener like bit.ly is a must as you only have 160 characters available and you don’t want to waste valuable real estate!
I added mine several months ago and it’s definitely increased the number of click-throughs to my website.

You’re welcome. It’s also a good idea to set up a specific landing page which people who click on your twitter link are taken to.
